Let us savor again the extraordinary bounty of prizes presented by our sponsors
and that were raffled to our would-be racers. The top prizes were in fact awarded to
those SUP contestants who made it into the above list.
GOYA www.goyasails.com : thanks to star, pro-sailer Jake Miller, who began his windsurfing career here in San Pedro working for Captain Kirk, Goya came through with one of our most exciting prizes, a GOYA FXR Freeride Board and 5.3m sail. The sail, which was auctioned, generated huge interest and handsome proceeds, THANK YOU.
  Captain Kirk Windsports www.captainkirks.com /
Ezzy Sails www.ezzy.com : our marquee prize this year, brought forward by the GODFATHER of this event (Paddleduro concept included), Kirk Robinson of Captain Kirk’s, was a trip to Baja California at Captain Kirk’s La Ventana resort including 4 nights stay. Five years ago, Kirk came up with the original concept for the Enduro and things took off from there. Kirk, in partnership with Ezzy, also sponsored our Masters Champion prize, a 5.8 S.E. sail; thanks to longtime supporter Tim with Groundswell. Kirk also facilitated the generous support of Carl Cambilargiu who came through, along with Kirk and others with a fleet of SUP’s!
  SAILWORKS www.sailworks.com / WINDJUNKIE www.windjunkie.net :
thanks to Bruce Peterson for donating a huge prize and to Spencer Thompson of Windjunkie.net for introducing us to Sailworks. The prize, a Backbone 430cm 90% Carbon RDM Wave Mast and 5.6M 2007 Revolution Sail, is simply awesome, and was reserved for our women’s open champion.
  KA Sail www.kasail.com / WindsurfDeal www.WindsurfDeal.com :
heartfelt thanks and welcome to one of the most passionate promoters of our sport, Jurg Schnorf, who came through with great gusto and a terrific line up of three sails, designed to please everyone from our die hard formula racers to our ladies and free style sailors. The KA Koncept 7.5 was featured in our live auction animated by band master Mossy Rock.
Streamlined Windsurfing www.streamlined.us : well known and loved for its awesome, superb quality gear, Streamlined (through founder Dave Dominy) stepped up again this year with 2 mast bases and extensions (one euro-pin, one standard), a prize for champions, which would have been split among the second and third place in our open class.
MAUI SAILS www.mauisails.com : thank you to Rick Whidden for coming through with a 2008 Pursuit 7.0 sail and to Casey Hauser for introducing us to Rick. This highly sought after contribution was reserved for the second place in our open class.
DAKINE www.dakine.com : a long time supporter of the event came through again (thanks to Bill Morrissey), providing LOTS of great prizes and a deeply appreciated backflip with a 11th hour sponsorship of the hottest event T-shirts ever, period (particularly the ladies’ shirt).
CHINOOK www.chinooksailing.com : thanks to Andy at Chinook for a cool and very generous selection of gear and tools intended for our Masters Champion and the third place in our open class.
  Roberto Ricci Designs www.robertoriccidesigns.com /
Isthmus Sailbords www.isthmussailboards.com : Gary Stone reminded us of the sport’s future with an Ezzy kid rig, including board and sail. Of note this year, registrations included a small but highly visible group of young racers and we have fielded many requests for a “junior class”. . .VERY PROMISSING, MORE TO FOLLOW. Our kid rig was reserved for the second place in our Sport class.
  Hansen Sails www.hansensails.com /
Cal Cup Windsurfing Race Series www.calcupevents.com : we are grateful for the spirited contribution of event veteran Jane Morsen, helping launch our first ever silent auction on the beach. Mauna Kai Hawaii www.maunakaihawaii.com : given the conditions, no racer earned the beautiful hand carved first place trophies sponsored by Kevin Knight. However, one trophy for outstanding volunteer dedication was awarded to Debi Thompson of Windjunkie.net for her tireless contribution to the event’s website and systems. We also thank Kevin Knight for his support of our Stand Up Paddle Board efforts.
Let it be known that prizes are what keep racers coming back but that
our local sponsors are ultimately those who make the event happen,
with some very large $ and infrastructure contributions.
Cabrillo Beach Bathhouse www.cabrillobeachbathouse.org : the Boosters are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the resurgence and vitality of Cabrillo Beach. They are well know locally for spearheading the spectacular 4th of July fireworks, a titanic fundraising and logistics task. Gary Dwight and Allan Johnson are at the helm and the Boosters paid the vast majority of the bills related to this event: lifeguards, music, food, flyers, banners, boat fuel, and a bunch of miscellaneous “stuff” that adds up. The Boosters also provided considerable administrative assistance with the very talented Kelly Signorelli. Kelly and her husband Mike also went way above the call of duty for contributing countless volunteer hours. The contributions of the Boosters were supported by added funds from a number of local and regional organizations including San Pedro Coastal, Central and Northwest Neighborhood Councils, the Port of LA and Councilwoman Janice Hahn’s 15th District Office.
  Cabrillo Beach Bathhouse www.cabrillobeachbathhouse.org /
City of Los Angeles Recreation & Parks www.cityofla.org :
our event has been blessed by the support of dynamic and visionary City of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks officials including Harbor District Supervisor Deanne Dedmon and her superiors Mark Mariscal and Bara King. We also thank new Cabrillo Beach Bathhouse director Cuong Chau for lending considerable staff and logistic support, not to mention offering the most beautiful of locations for our party.
Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club www.cbyc.org : we are grateful that the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club again let us use their top notch race committee boat and opened their doors for Happy Hour on Saturday the 19th. Thank you to Jib Kelly and Sharon Terrones for their enthusiasm.
Numerous behind the scenes sponsors played a leading role this year,
with a major upgrade to our graphics, advertising and web interface.
Hauser Advertising www.hauser-advertising.com : thanks to Cliff Hauser for creating the new gorgeous event graphics pro-bono, and to the whole family, including son Casey and wife Janice, for being such spirited supporters of our event.
iWINDSURF www.iWindsurf.com : if you’ve visited iWindsurf’s great site and forums, you may have noticed a cool, whimsical event banner ad bobbing up and down; the premium online space was donated thanks to George Haye of iWindsurf.
WindJunkie www.windjunkie.net : we cannot stop thanking Spencer and Debi Thompson this year, a terrific addition to our event family. As mentioned above, Debi volunteered to create our new web site and worked tirelessly throughout the year.
A number of other local sponsors kept us hydrated, fed and
well rested throughout the event.
Albertsons www.albertsons.com : thank you to Paul Bauman for a generous supply of snacks and bottled water enjoyed by all. Thank you for all that you do for us and the San Pedro community at large!
The Crowne Plaza Hotel www.crowneplaza.com : thank you to Mr. Casey Kuong for offering a handsome $40 discount for out of town guests. The Crowne Plaza garnered RAVE reviews from our guests!

important addition to our party this year -- the presence of San Pedro-classic Godmothers Saloon dispensing much enjoyed liquid refreshments.
Thank you Cathy Bagliazo for your financial and in kind sponsorship.

extraordinary, classic meat shop at 25th and Western kept our volunteers
well fed and happy with their yummy sandwiches. What a treat, thank you!
!

Last but not least, we would like to thank and acknowledge
the multitude
