The Enduro
Strikes back!
1. Event
The Cabrillo beach 3rd Annual Enduro will be held on August 1 at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, CA. In sea breezes of 15-25 mph with water temperatures of 65° to 72° F and air temperatures of 70° to 85° F.
This Event will consist of Figure 8 windsurfing racing, and an SUP
race in the morning. If the wind does not reach the 15 mph minimum,
as reported by iWindsurf.com, the race committee may elect to run course racing or other, so also bring your formula or alternative gear
(ie an SUP) if you can.
The SUP race will consist of a le Mans style paddle around the Cabrillo Beach Bell Buoy.
Online registration will begin no later than June 2009.
2. Organizer
The Cabrillo Beach Enduro is organized by the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks and by the Cabrillo Beach Boosters and their volunteers.
Any and all proceeds from the Event benefit the youth and recreation programs at Cabrillo Beach.
3. Classes and Equipment
MEN:
• Sport: any novice racer (no sandbaggers please!), including racers who participated in last year's Event and were not among the top three (3) finishers
• Open: has raced before - note the top three (3) finishers in last year's novice class will be placed automatically in this class
• ** New Junior **: subject to a minimum enrollment of five (5), we are excited to add this new class for kids and youths ages 17 and under (age cutoff subject to change depending on enrollment)
• Masters: 45 years of age and over on the race day
WOMEN:
• Sport and Open: will race as one class but will be scored separately if each class enrolment meets a minimum of five (5) in each class
The Enduro is a fun format designed to appeal to all windsurfers with any type of equipment. There are no equipment restrictions or specific requirements but the Organizers retain the right to disallow any equipment deemed unsafe or not in the spirit of the Event
4. Television and Media
Racers automatically grant the Organizer and the City of Los Angeles permission to photograph and or videotape them during the period of the Event. The sole purpose of these photographs and or videos is for publication, advertisement, and exhibition of services offered by the Organizer and the City of Los Angeles.
5. Liability
Racers agree to relieve the Organizer, the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks and its officer agents, employees and volunteers and the Cabrillo Beach Boosters from any liabilty in connection with any injury to them in this race. Racers understand that the City carries no insurance. Racers also understand that there will be no refunds, transfers or make-up days.
6. Competitor Sail Branding and Sail Numbers
During racing, competitors may be required by the Organizer to wear jerseys or other items carrying the Event sponsorsí branding.
All racers must register with their Registration Form a sail number that they plan to use during the races. Any changes must be made in writing to the Race Committee before the start of the competion. Racers will be responsible for numbering their own sails; sail numbers must be at least 12î high, made in contrasting color to the sail body and placed above the boom. Tape will be available on-site on the day of the
Event to assist in this process.
7. Registration Fees
Your advance registration will be $25 and covers all race logistics and other related expenses. Each race participant will receive a race jersey or T-Shirt and a free BBQ meal at the awards ceremony to be held on August 1.
